François Dumontier’s expertise with international sporting events will benefit equestrian sports

Bromont, March 13, 2018 – A new company, led by the President and CEO of Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada Mr. François Dumontier, will now provide its support to Roger Deslauriers’s team with the organization of the 43rd edition of the International Bromont, to be held from July 25 to August 5, 2018.

By his own admission, the Montreal promoter agrees that his interest in Bromont’s major international jumping horse show is not solely professional. “One of my sons practises equestrian sports and I must admit that it allowed me to discover a fascinating universe, a little similar yet also very different, from the world of horsepower I deal with every day. This environment has also brought me in contact with people whose intense passion has impressed me, stated François Dumontier adding that, one of them being Roger Deslauriers whose enthusiasm and professionalism made me want to get involved to maintain the success of the important annual sporting event that is the International Bromont.”

Associated with the presentation of the Canadian Grand Prix since 1994, François Dumontier has been promoting the event since 2010. The Canadian race part of the Formula One World Championship will be presented on the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve June 8, 9 and 10, 2018. The event will celebrate 40 years of Formula 1 in Montreal as well as Gilles Villeneuve’s maiden win.

“It is a great opportunity for us to be able to count on the support and experience, of François, the promoter of an event of international calibre which is the most important sporting event in the country, said Roger Deslauriers, and it is exactly what equestrian sports in Quebec and in Canada need in order to develop a real horse culture, to promote its disciplines, to showcase the talent of our high-level athletes and to introduce upcoming and emerging riders.”

For its 43rd edition this summer, from July 25 to August 5, International Bromont 2018 will bring together, on the Bromont Olympic Equestrian Park site, more than 1000 riders and horses from 5 countries who will participate in two weeks of unsurpassed competitions in Eastern Canada. The winners will share more than half a million dollars in purse money, allocated to the different divisions of the competition.

Roger Deslauriers has been the force behind International Bromont since its very beginning in 1975. A successful coach and organizer, Roger Deslauriers is one of the best-known figures of the equestrian industry in Canada.
