Montréal, 1 March 2018 – The Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada announced today that the support races program for its next edition, on June 8, 9, and 10, will include three classes: The North American Ferrari Challenge, Porsche GT3 Cup and F1600 series will compete once again on Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve.
“Since the initial event in Montréal in 1978, drivers entered in the support races have always offered an excellent show to race fans,” explained François Dumontier, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada. “I have absolutely no doubt that this year, once again, the numerous participants will spare no effort to add to their record a win on a track used by Formula 1 champions.”
‘’The Ferrari Challenge runs at the most iconic tracks in North America and the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve is always a highlight for our drivers. We are pleased to once again be a support race to the Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada, 40 years after the inaugural race, and for the twenty-first time for the Ferrari Challenge North America, a history we are proud to share.”
-Matteo Torre, President, Ferrari North America
“Racing at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve is always a highlight in the Ultra 94 GT3 Cup Canada by Yokohama series, and to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the inaugural race will make it that much more special,”
-Marc Ouayoun, President and CEO, Porsche Cars Canada, Ltd.
‘’To have the opportunity to be a part of 40 years of Formula 1 in Montréal in 2018 is an incredible privilege for drivers and their teams. Our drivers come from all over Canada and the United States and it goes without saying that the F1600 Canada series plans on offering a spectacle worthy of this momentous event.’’
– Marcel Lafontaine, President, F1600 Canada
